The best Genshin Impact characters will be available in the next update. This includes two new characters, Yellen and Kuki Shinobu, and a couple of five-star reruns. Many players are hoping for Klee and Kazuha to be had. Still, leaks suggest that Arataki Itto and Xiao might make a comeback instead.
Ayato is a strong character, especially with Yun Jin’s attack buffs. Yellen will be an interesting Hydro character, mainly because she uses a bow. Check out the best Genshin Impact characters tier list if you’re curious about how characters compare.
Genshin is a gacha game, which means that part of the fun is building parties from the characters you have. Each character is viable with a suitable investment and setup, so it can be helpful to get an idea of who is more powerful. In this article, I’ll try to give a general idea of what makes each character special. I’ll also talk upcoming characters.

Genshin Impact tier list-S
Kazuha is best built for Elemental Mastery, which strengthens and facilitates his Absorption and Swirl abilities. Like Xiao, he has a fun and engaging playstyle with his Midare Ranzan plunging attacks.
Eula is a DPS character with high physical damage output. Her Icetide Vortex and Glacial Illumination abilities allow for a one-shot playstyle as she builds stacks of Grimhearts to boost her damage output.
Jean The Dandelion Knight is a strong performer, making her a strong character. Her healing is based on her attack record, which means she can also gather enemies and blast them off ledges while still giving her a boost in energy.
Ayaka is a noble yet lonely princess of the Kamisato clan; Ayaka’s strength lies in her ability to move quickly between opponents using Senho sprint, freezing them, and dealing with severe Cryo reactions.
Albedo This Alchemist’s greatest strength is his ability to produce elemental particles that can be used for plunge attacks or rain destruction—no wonder Klee loves him so much.
Zhongli is a rock-themed Archon who excels in fortification and damage. His Stone Steles have synergy with other Geo abilities, making him a good partner for Ningguang, Albedo, or Itto.
This bookish four-star swordsman summons wound-reducing swords that heal and his Elemental Burst sequels with rain swords that inflict Hydro damage, allowing for a slew of Vain Electro-Charged reactions.
Bennett is a fantastic four-star support character, a happy-go-lucky adventurer with an unfortunate past, using his Elemental Burst for healing, a good attack buff, and Pyro infusion after unlocking Constellation 6.
Arataki Itto is a character who deals damage and scales defensively, gaining stacks of Superlative Superstrength to perform powerful charged attacks. His burst strengthens these further, granting him Geo infusion similar to Noelle’s Sweeping Time.
The Kamisato clan head is an intense damage dealer due to his Shunsuiken Hydro attacks and the Namisen effect. His Suiyuu burst and energy regen passive also make him a pretty self-sufficient DPS character.
This Anemo character is powerful and versatile, able to summon a hurricane that sucks in enemies and absorbs other elements. He also levitates, making him excellent support for damage-dealing characters.
Raiden Shogun Is anyone surprised that the Electro Archon turned out to be the ultimate battery when other characters use their elemental bursts. Still, it also recharges everyone else when she uses her burst.
Hu Tao, Wansheng’s polearm-wielding Funeral Director, suffers massive Pyro damage with her Elemental Skill and passive. Still, Spirit Soother, her burst, inflicts AoE Pyro injury and heals her when it strikes.
Ganyu This Cryo Archer is not only one of the best DPS characters in Genshin but also one of the best damage dealers in Genshin, but she can also boost Cryo damage with her burst, making them a terrifying pair.
Genshin Impact tier list-A
Xiangling is a great Pyro DPS character thanks to her Pyronado and Guoba Attack abilities, which enable Elemental Reactions.
Zhongli and Noelle are Genshin’s best Geo tanks. Noelle’s Breastplate skill provides a healing shield based on her defense, and she can also get elemental shields from the Crystalize reaction.
Fischl and Oz make an excellent team for dealing with Electro damage. Oz will keep attacking even if you switch characters, so you can keep those Elemental Reactions going.
Razor is Genshin’s go-to Electro damage-dealer because of his significant Physical damage and straightforward playstyle. He is also a four-star character, so you are more likely to pull him than Keqing.
Through the Crystalize reaction as a Geo spellcaster, Ningborg regularly produces elemental shields, blocking enemy projectiles while still allowing your characters to fire through it.
Keqing, along with Razor, is one of Genshin’s finest Electro damage dealers, allowing her to switch quickly between opponents and infuse her blade with Electro for Elemental Reactions.
Sucrose is an excellent Anemo support character for assisting and enhancing Elemental Reactions since her passives support Elemental Mastery.
Diona is a great support character, able to provide shields with high Cryo resistance and heal gradually over time. She also does AoE damage with her Signature Mix burst.
Xiao is a powerful Anemo damage-dealer with a cool mask and a powerful burst ability that lets him spam AoE plunging attacks.
Tartaglia This versatile bow-and-polearm model is a versatile damage dealer. His Elemental Burst, Havoc: Obliteration, is a good Hydro AoE with a long cooldown for switching between views.
This astrologer is a reliable source of Hydrogen, making her helpful in hammering Elemental Reactions. Stellaris Phantasm is similar to many Anemo skills in that it allows you to trap and punish enemies.
Yanfei is not as strong as the little red bomber, but she is a consistent source of ranged Pyro. Pair her with Xingqiu to Vaporize anything.
Aloy is a reliable DPS character who can deal Cryo damage with her essential skill and gain Cryo infusion with her Coil stack mechanic. She is also handy for Freeze reactions and doesn’t spook birds, making her the perfect Fowl hunter.
Yoimiya is a five-star Pyro archer who can be excellent with the right build. Her Pyro-infused attacks make her a good pairing with Raiden Shogun or Fischl. She may not be adamant, but she can do some unique ranged Pyro-reaction damage.
Kokomi, The divine priestess of Sangonomiya Temple, is a potent healer in a character roster that is already full of powerful healers, and her Bake-Kurage jellyfish and Nereid’s Ascension help her play a vital support role, providing healing and Hydrogenetic assistance.
Diluc is still one of the best DPS heroes because he can inflict Pyro damage and infuse his claymore with the element. He is also a straightforward damage-dealer to use.
Klee is an excellent Pyro DPS character in Genshin Impact due to her ability to inflict significant AoE damage with her attacks. Her Elemental Burst, Sparks ‘n’ Splash, is similar to Xingqiu’s except that it inflicts Pyro damage, making it ideal for triggering Vaporize.
Gorou is a great support character for parties mostly of Geo characters, thanks to his banner-based solid buffs. He’s still usable without a Geo party, but he shines in that setting.
The Yun-Han Opera Troupe’s director, Yun Jin, can increase a party’s average damage output with her burst ability. She can also deal parry damage, similar to Beidou, once you unlock her True to Oneself passive.
Shenhe is a powerful enabler for mono-Cryo parties, increasing Cryo damage with her Icy Quills. However, she can be complicated to use, especially for beginners, since there are a limited number of Icy Quill boosts per character.
Planting Sesshou Sakura in the right spot can be tricky, but this five-star shrine maiden and Kitsune is excellent with Electro damage. Her skill and burst work well together – once the Sakura are planted, she can use her Tenko Kenshin burst to detonate them and deal Electro damage in a wide area.
Genshin Impact tier list-B
Xinyan, a four-star Pyro, is more likable to pull than Diluc, but she’s more effective as Physical DPS assistance than in her original role as a damage-dealer.
Qiqi This zombie herbalist is a natural healer, and as her talisman-based healing scales on harm, she can often be a good sub-DPS. Diona, as a four-star Cryo support, is usually preferable in versatility and rarity.
Rosaria is a great partner for high-damage characters like Diluc, thanks to her fast and deadly strikes, crit rate buffs from her passive abilities, and the attack speed boost from her first Constellation.
Kaeya is a free character who you get for completing early story quests. He is a source of early game Cryo, but there are many stronger Cryo characters.
For Melt, Freeze, and Shatter reactions, Chongyun is a great Cryo DPS paired with characters like Bennett and Xingqui. However, it can be somewhat overshadowed by Genshin’s other outstanding Cryo characters.
Beidou is not as popular as Razor because her Elemental Skill is mostly defensive, but she can do a lot of damage and is a good tanky sub-DPS.
Sayu Genshin Impact’s first pint-sized claymore user is a fun support character, running back and forth over opponents when triggering reactions. Her Muji Daruma can heal and deal with Anemo damage.
Sara’s Tengu archer Constellations can be powerful, but they’re more fiddly to use than Fischl’s Electro archer, making Fischl a more consistent party member.
Barbara Mondstadt’s first and only idol is a natural healer. However, after the ‘Song of the Dragon and Freedom’ quest, she’s still a natural healer, but she lacks Jean and Bennett’s additional functionality and strength.
Thoma Although this housekeeper for the Kamisato clan is vulnerable, he’s mainly good at shields, meaning he can give your party some serious damage resistance.
Genshin Impact tier list-C
Amber is not as strong as other archers in Genshin, but her decoy ability Baron Bunny is one of the best in the game. She also provides early game Pyro support.
Traveler (Anemo and Geo)
The Traveller is a decent early game character, but Genshin’s other five stars outperform them in terms of Anemo and Geo. Try out new characters to get the most out of the game.
Although Lisa’s Elemental Skill is a good source of Electro and useful in some party combinations, she doesn’t stick around after she’s changed, making her less popular than other four-stars like Fischl.
GENSHIN IMPACT CHARACTERS UPCOMING
Genshin Impact characters Upcoming
Yelan and Kuki Shinobu are the two new Genshin Impact characters to watch in the 2.7 updates, but leaks have surfaced for a while now, showing off their playstyle.
Yelan is a five-star Hydro archer whose damage is based on max HP. Her Lingering Lifeline is a movement-based ability, and her Exquisite Throw is similar to Xingqiu’s rain sword burst.
On the other hand, Kuki is reminiscent of Keqing in terms of her moveset and is also an Electro sword-user. She is the only dedicated healer we’ve seen since Kokomi.
Genshin Impact characters New
Kamisato Ayato, a five-star Hydro sword-wielder, has the most popular passives, based on fast Hydro-infused Shunsuiken attacks that result in Namisen stacks, buffing damage based on his max HP.
As soon as he enters the Takimeguri Kanka state, Mine Wo Matoishi Kiyotaki grants him two Namisen stacks. When the illusion created by the skill explodes, he gains full stacks. Michiyuki Hagestu also regenerates energy for him when he has below 40 and isn’t active.
HOW TO GET GENSHIN IMPACT CHARACTERS
To get Genshin Impact characters, you have to use the game’s gacha system to ‘Wish’ on a banner. You use Genshin Impact Primogems to purchase Intertwined Fate or Acquaint Fate that amounts to a single wish. Different banners feature different characters and boosted pull rates. The Genshin Impact pity and soft pity systems are also essential to understand.
- After nine wishes without a four-star, the tenth wish is guaranteed to be a four-star.
- After 89 wishes without a five star, the 90th is guaranteed to be a five star. From 75 wishes onwards, the chance of pulling a five-star is increased every wish until it hits 100% on the 90th.
If you take them out of a Constellation upgrade for your new character version, Genshin Impact also has five free characters (and one that is technically free):
- Amber: The story progresses
- Kaeya: The story progresses
- Lisa: The story progresses
- Barb: Clear the Song of the Dragon quest
- Noelle: Use the beginner banner to put ten of your free wishes
- Xiangling: Clear floor three, chamber three of the Spiral Abyss
You can buy additional characters from a pool that changes regularly at Paimon’s Bargains, using a resource called Masterless Starglitter. You get this resource by making wishes, and you can also use it to buy a different resource called Masterless Stardust. This can be used to buy both types of Fate.
